Coffee questions, answered
Which coffee should I start with?
Start with Castillo or Caturra if you want a smooth everyday coffee for drip or French press. Choose Typica or Yellow Bourbon if you want something a little softer and sweeter. Start with Tabí, Pink Bourbon, Chiroso, or Geisha when you want a brighter cup for slower brewing.
What is the difference between the everyday coffees?
Castillo is dependable, rounded, and balanced. Caturra is sweet and familiar with caramel and red fruit notes. Typica is gentle and classic with cocoa, honey, and soft florals. Yellow Bourbon is smooth and sweet with caramel, milk chocolate, honey, and stone fruit.
What are the standout coffees for?
Tabí, Pink Bourbon, Chiroso, and Geisha are more expressive coffees for people who like floral, fruity, or layered cups. They are best when you want to slow down, compare flavors, or brew pour-over style.
What roast should I choose?
Medium roast is the safest starting point for everyday brewing. Darker profiles are better if you like a fuller cup or milk drinks. Light-medium coffees are brighter and more aromatic, especially for pour-over, Chemex, or slower drip brewing.
Which coffee is best for my brew method?
For drip, start with Castillo, Caturra, or Yellow Bourbon. For French press, choose Castillo or Caturra. For pour-over, choose Typica, Tabí, Pink Bourbon, Chiroso, or Geisha. For milk drinks, start with the smoother medium coffees.
Do you sell whole bean or ground coffee?
Our coffees are sold as whole bean unless a product page shows a grind option. Whole bean keeps flavor fresher for longer, and grinding right before brewing gives you the best cup at home.
Why does freshness matter?
Coffee loses aroma and flavor after roasting, especially when it sits in warehouses or on store shelves. Our promise is simple: coffee ships after roasting, so the bag reaching your kitchen has a shorter path to your cup.
Why roasted in Colombia?
Roasting closer to origin helps shorten the path between farm, roast, and customer. It also keeps the story and value of Colombian coffee closer to the people and places that produce it.
